The 2014 Nebraska State Minority Health Conference

Nearly two hundred public health professionals, primary care and hospital professionals, community and lay health workers, and educators and academics attended the 2014 Nebraska State Minority Health Conference on June 24-25, 2014 at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Convention Center in Kearney, Nebraska.  The conference brought together local, state, and national experts on Cultural Competency and Health Literacy.

Cultural competence and health literacy skills are important pieces of effective health communication and healthcare.  Attendees at this conference learned more about both of these fields as well as practical skills and resources for providing Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) and for making their communication, with all audiences, more health literate.

Sessions focused on skill-building, models for practice, and current research.
